Many girls took to the streets with their parents this past weekend to protest the new government’s agenda on women’s right issues. The march which was planned to take place in Washington DC quickly spread around the nation and beyond. It has become a significant moment in history.
“I just really want to feel respected and safe. I don’t want to grow up in a world where I’m not respected for my gender or race or sexual identity.”
—15-year-old Emma Rice of Richmond, Va.“Feminism is really cool and I want to be paid the same and have the same rights as boys.”
—13-year-old Neko Conner, Seattle, Wash.
That day, many young girls realized for the first time how powerful their voice is, especially when it is singing in tune with a chorus of millions of other voices.
