Who is Caeley Looney?
Caely Looney was exposed to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) at a young age. Her mother was an engineer. She spent her afternoons designing the plumbing systems for airfacts for the Navy. As a result, Caeley was used to seeing schematics of projects randomly strewn about. She was surrounded by all of this inspiration to do STEM and soon, it came into fruition. When Caeley started middle school, her mother dragged her to a robotics meeting. It was just a chance, her mother had said. But Caeley absolutely fell in love with engineering and everything that comes with it.
It was learning about rockets and robots that led Caeley into a deep passion for space. She ended up getting a bachelor of science in Aerospace Engineering. When she was an undergraduate, she had the opportunity to intern at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. This was her first hands-on experience with research and attitude dynamics!
Today, she works full-time as a Space Mission Analyst for L3 Harris Technologies. She supports small satellite programs by performing things like delta-V calculations and constellation design. However, one of the biggest jobs she has is giving back. When she returns home, she opens up her laptop and works on Reinvented Magazine. As the founder and CEO of this nonprofit organization she works to empower young girls to pursue STEM fields through the creation of the nation’s first ever print magazine written for girls in STEM… by girls in STEM.

- On a much less professional level, I spend most of my free time running long distances.
- She has two dogs, Charlie and Scout.
- She likes crafting and going on long walks on the beach!
