If you asked your daughter to rate her confidence on a scale of 1 to 10. Where do you think she would land? Chances are if she is under 12, she would rate herself pretty high and if she older than 12, much lower.
For their new book, Confidence Code For Girls, the authors surveyed 1,300 tweens and teens and the results add to the pile of evidence that puberty is not only rough on girls but actually fundamentally changes how they think of themselves and how they engage with the world all the way through adulthood.
There are no quick fixes but it is critical that we start early with giving our girls opportunities to experience failure, adventure and practice resilience.
