Children are naturals at inquiry-based thinking and are eager to explore STEM concepts deeper at a very early age. “However, many of their teachers are unprepared to go there with them. “Feeling comfortable with teaching science starts with teacher-preparation programs, experts say. But few education programs focus on training prospective elementary teachers to become fluent in science or engineering.”
Our hyper focus as a society on STEM education for our children need to be met with equal enthusiasm for preparing their teachers, parents and coaches to facilitate quality learning experiences.
