Dr Patricia Bath was first black doctor to receive a medical patent. She invented the Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment. She held four patents for her inventions. As a humanitarian, Dr. Bath founded the non-profit American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness in Washington, D.C..
