Physicist, Mathematician
From a young age, Ingrid was always curious how things worked and what made them work. This curiosity led her to obtain a degree in Physics and Mathematics. She is one of the world’s most cited mathematicians for her research of wavelets in image compression.
Professor Daubechies was just awarded the 2019 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science award this month for her research on wavelet theory.
3 Things We Love About Ingrid:
- She’s smart! She excelled so much in primary school that they moved her up a grade only after three months.
- She was the first full-time female professor at Princeton University.
- She was the co-founder of the Duke Summer Workshop in Mathematics for rising female seniors in high school.
